Who do I call if I go home and find that my mom has passed on?

EMT, Coroner, or just family?

I was told by hospital to call 911 request medical emergency - EMT has to pronounce person before funeral home contacted.

Amy, I know what you mean. Except with my situation, I work full-time, while father was the main caregiver for bedridden vegetative-state mom. When father started falling or losing his balances, I worried too. What if I came home at 630pm, it's dark outside and he had collapsed in the backyard (mosquito-ridden place) all day? Or if I came home and he had collapsed? It was fortunate that the day he had his stroke, the govt caregivers came to give mom a sponge bath. They found him sitting on the recliner - with blurred speech and unable to move his left side. They called 911 and then called me because someone had to be home with mom while he went to the ER. He's now bedridden - out of his own fault. He had a minor stroke but he refuses therapy because "it hurts." It's scary to worry Every Single Day what you will come home to...

I am concerned about going home to find that she has passed while we were all gone. I live with my parents and my dad and I work full time but are also her primary caregivers.

Call 911 and they will advise you.

I would call 911. They usually ask what's your emergency. Based on your answer, they will send the police and/or EMT.

I hope this has not just happened... I agree with first responder. Peace.

I would call the police first, then inform your family while waiting for police to arrive. I must ask, are you in this situation suspecting your mother has passed, or are you just preparing in case it happens? Hugs to you!!
