Dementia usually includes a distorted view of reality. Often a person with dementia says what is true to them and it does not correspond to how we see the world. This is different than lying -- it is not a deliberate attempt to deceive. When the person with dementia eats lunch and 10 minutes later says, "I haven't eaten all day. My son never feeds me," he is not "lying" -- he is stating something that at that moment he believes to be true.
What aspect of incontinence are you having trouble with? Does Dad cooperate with wearing disposable underwear, getting cleaned up as needed, etc.? Is he in denial about this? What do you need help with?
