Why is it important to remind a person with dementia about the name of a visitor who comes to see them?

How can reality orientation strategies help a person with dementia ?

I would think the person with dementia would feel more comfortable knowing the visitor's name, or at least knowing that you know the visitor's name. "Jim, this is Bill, from your golf league" ought to do it. And if the person says, "Of course I know Bill, you didn't have to introduce him!" so much the better.

Also it seems respectful of the visitor.

Many caregivers keep a guest book for visitors to sign, as a reminder later.
