My 77yr old mom had hip replacement surgery and will come home 3-4 days after rehab. What can I do to prepare for her?

What type of assistance will she need?

In addition to above mentioned, when my MIL went home after surgery - we rearranged furniture to make house accessable for her walker. We also picked up and moved any area rugs that she could trip on. She already had grips on the shower and a walk in shower anyway; so that was all set for her. Hope all goes well when she goes home.

It's good that you are asking. I expect the rehab to hook you up with a social worker prior to release. Ask that person for help. If you haven't had a family meeting with the rehab facility... do it. Also, ask her therapists questions about what to do when she's home. I expect a Home Health agency will be assigned to your Mom and they'll come out to do an assessment of the home and order supplies as needed. Good luck to you and your Mom!!!
