My Mother(97) wants to die at home. If she does, who do I contact?

We live in Mississippi. I have legal papers to cover all areas of her life and estate. She does not want to be kept alive by artificial means.

We were told to call 911. The medics have to come and pronounce first of all. Then you can call funeral home.

What is your point, OctoberOhio? What is wrong with Hospice as a suggestion?

I wish I knew the answer also momskeeper. I'm in same situation.

To those who tried to help, you have to maybe read the question again.

Hospice sounds like the best choice, starting now. They provided comfort care right up to the end, and when the end came they took care of all the details.

Have you had her evaluated by Hospice? If she qualified, I think this would be the most likely route to go. They are the ones you call when something happens and they will help with any arrangements that need to be made.
