What can I do about my folks credit cards?

My mom owes quite abit on several cards,has dementia, Dad cancer. They have no savings or anything at all,only s.s. monthly. Ican not afford to help. They own their home. I was advised to just stop paying and turn off their ph.I am very scared please advise

Have you called the credit card companies and honestly asked them what to do? I learned long ago that they couldn't read my mind, so when I wouldn't answer the phone, how did they know what was going on? Pick up the phone and be honest. Life happens, they need to know what has happened.
