Where do you get help for a parent that is very confused after a angioplasty?

He was in the hospital for angioplasty, this procedure was done yesterday to check his artery's. He got unruly in the hospital to the point of throwing things. Where do we take or what do we do! My sister lives here with him and she can't sleep because she is fear for her life. She is stress to the point of loosing her job. We are at our wits end...

I'm assuming your dad is still in the hospital since the angioplasty was just yesterday? My dad had been in the hospital for various procedures and each time experienced what they call "sundowning" - very common in the elderly. It can happen anytime; but particularly when in new environment. I don't know if this is what is happening to your dad, but is a possiblility. Hopefully, someone at the hospital could help you with this. Social Services is a good place to start.

I had to stay with my father every day to talk him through it as he was hallucinating. The good news is that it did pass after a few days or even a week depending on which hospitalization he had. The stress for your sister, obviously is not good. Maybe someone at Elder Services in the town in which he lives might be able to help. They can provide services that are covered by medicare. One of which is home care i.e. nurses, etc.

I'm sorry you are going through this, most distressing. Bless you and hope you can find someone to help. Take care.
