What long-term care assistance is available for Veterans?

Guestshopadmin Jun 2017
The average processing time is six to eight months. With certain cases of disability or severe decline, it can get fast tracked but the norm seems to be 6-8 months. It is paid retroactively. It can affect anyone on Medicaid in terms of income once granted. If a big back payment is received, you need to coordinate any spend down if the person is on Medicaid with the case worker or a lawyer to avoid disqualification.

Call the Veterans Health Administration toll-free at 1-877-222-VETS (1-877-222-8387), complete an online enrollment application form, or call your nearest VA Medical Center or VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic and ask for an enrollment coordinator.

My husband is classified as permanently and totally disabled and housebound. When the time comes, is he entitled to VA subsidized in home care. As his spouse would I be eligible if my medical condition warranted that type of assistance

My mother is the spouse of a veteran of the Air Force. She has Parkinson's disease and is staying at my house. Can she receive home health care during the week while I am at work. I don't want to put her in a nursing home.
