is there free nursing care for parents that have to live at home with their children?

GINA:

Lynn is right on the money. Also, make a habit of searching the Internet. If you Google-search "free nursing care," it can lead you to Medicare.gov. It's a good idea to let your fingers do the walking so you can formulate a plan, then go around town hunting for services. Good luck!

Gina - Sorry but in general the answer is NO. Before getting into too much detail, I'd like to know what you mean by "nursing care". If you mean help with toileting, bathing, dressing and hygiene - that's not considered "nursing". "Nursing care" is considered to be things like taking and monitoring medications, monitoring blood sugar or giving shots or IVs.

If you need help taking care of your parents in home, contact your local area agency on aging. They will help you understand what's possible in your area. Generally, there are no programs that pay for in-home care givers. If your parents require more help and you can't provide it all, consider assisted living. Many facilities are happy to accept couples - they would likely share a room - and they'll accept medicaide to supplement their income for rent.
