Only caregivers here will appreciate this.

’Looks like you have a good 20 years ahead of you.’ was the comment after my husband’s appointment. The diagnosis remains advanced Alzheimer’s but stable. Obviously he wasn’t talking to me.

It's not just doctors. As my mom edged closer to the century mark I had multiple people tell me they hoped she reached 100. Really, you think it would be good for this poor lost soul who is physically as helpless as a newborn to live longer 😒

That comment is par for the course from many doctors.
I dread the day when I’m older and the receiver of a false hope comment .
I would dread it even more if my child is sitting next to me to hear it.

Nothing funny about this one. And nobody with advanced AD has a good 20 yrs ahead of them, thankfully

Clearly not…how insensitive to a caregiver. I witnessed a lot of doctors, during my years of helping my dad, value life, any life, far over quality of life. Their training revolves around saving lives, often to the detriment of caregivers and the patient’s wellbeing. Glad you could appreciate the sad humor in it and wish you much peace in the storm

Could this be moved down to discussions.
JDW, this reminds me of some of the "funnies" that Bundle of Joy posts for us in discussions. Lord knows we all need a smile to light up the day.
