Thank goodness my parents had saved for those "rainy days" because it was storming out there as they got older. Without their savings, I would have needed to have quit work to go into a job [caregiving] which I knew nothing about. I never had children, thus no experience in trying to reasoning with a 3 year old to help reason with a 93 year old.
But boy the sticker shock of how much it cost to grow older. It made my head spin.
Forget retirement. My savings is now being held hostage for my old age care.
