About 2 years and 5 months in house. Total since the stroke - 3 years 5 months. (I won't count my pre-teen years when I took care of my 5 brothers and sisters for my parents: 5 years).
How much longer? I need to do something NOW to convince my parents it is time for them to move to a retirement community.... they can easily afford it but they don't want to spend the money because they say that is my inheritance. Told them I don't that inheritance, I want THEM to enjoy their later years because they way it is now, they will outlive me.... then what? Dad couldn't answer.
Because of this highly stressful situation, that I didn't ask for or ever saw it coming, it has done major damage to my health. I keep working at my career to give me some sanity.
Coming up on three years. I'm doing fine most of the time, thanks to this website and all of my AC friends out there. And mom, you might ask? She is doing great! She's happy, safe comfortable and loved, in spite of herself sometimes.

My parents are in their 90's and still living on their own at their single family home.... I've been their "driver" for 5 years and that has worn me to a frazzle... I am scared silly what few months might bring.
I am hoping I can convince my parents to move to a retirement community where they will be safer [too many stairs in their house], and they can get quick medical attention if they need it.

I cared for my sweet father in my home for 5 years. Then he was in a NH for 6 months. He died a year ago.
