I'm concerned about my Mom living alone

My Mom lives alone, her home is a mess. People can hardly walk around all the stuff on the floors. I'm afraid of a fire hazard. She will not let anyone in her home that she think is threatening, i.e. suggesting in-home care or someone to clean her home. She has fallen a few times, but refuses to use a cane or life alert.

Your concerns are valid. A senior whose house is overly cluttered, or filthy is an unsafe environment for them. The problem is convincing your mom of that! She probably sees letting someone come to clean as a loss of her independence. There is no easy answer. This article may give you some ideas on dealing with your mom:
