We have joint tenancy but I was told it would have to be 5 years in my name to keep it. My mother is on the phsyc. ward and may need to be moved to a n.h. or assisted living. The only way to pay for that would be too sell the house? What other options could there be? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Find Care & Housing
The five year look back is what they are talking about - if she needs to go on Medicaid. I'd talk with an estate attorney or elder law attorney pronto. He or she may not be able to help, but your case may have something special about it, so you should check this out. Just make sure the attorney knows Medicaid law and isn't going to get you into trouble. Ask for references or proof of experience.

Good luck,
Carol
