Make an appointment with your primary doctor today, or got to Urgent Care today. If you have a nurse's line to call for guidance I would do that -- but in my experience they almost always tell you to come in to be seen.
Off you go to the doctor, Farmgirl. There are many causes for this. You may have a simpler dependent edema caused by some reason that your doc can investigate, or this could be a more serious right heart failure, especially if there is also some abdominal edema. If there is any shortness of breath and you cannot lay down and breathe comfortably you could be looking at some left sided heart failure. And in either case this is for the doctor to assess. Meanwhile keep the feet elevated. Make an appt. with doc. and I wish you the best, hoping you will update us.
So many things can cause swelling, from lymphedema to arthritis/inflammation to a chronic disease. Your/LO's medical provider can tell you which conditions you're dealing with could be the cause and can direct what to do about it.

Both my 90 year old parents had swelling. I got them some zip up compression socks. Their legs were kept elevated. Gentle massaging sometimes helped.
But I agree with the wonderful forum members on this site who recommend seeing a doctor, so you can have some answers.
