Considering TV headphone for Dad. Any suggestions?
Dad's (91) hearing is very poor and I've heard about TV headphones that help seniors hear their programs. Can someone tell me how they work, and make a recommendation for a good one? Thanks.
How old is his tv? It needs to at least have a headphone jack input if you get ones that have a cord. Newer tvs have bluetooth and are wireless and may require a little more setup. You can call the tv manufacturer if you know the model # (it usually will be on the back of the unit somewhere). I love mine but I agree to turn on the cc and see if that helps.
My very elderly Aunt with advanced dementia watched DVDs with the cc on and she read the entire movie out loud, every single time. She even would try to read the credits.
I have tried them. Really did not like them What I have found more helpful is putting the Closed Captioning on. You can adjust the color and the style of font so it makes it easier to read. Some televisions also have another setting that you can turn down the background noise. (or so I have read)
