But the truth is that the younger generation have no hope of buying a house at the age you did, and they are disinterested in donating labor to a population that they also see as extracting more benefits via SSN, Medicare and Medicaid than they’ll ever get. They can’t buy a roof. What makes you think they want to help you repair yours for free?
Home maintenance is not a charity. If you can no longer pay for this work, it is time to talk to potential heirs. And if there are none, it’s time to consider liquidation for an independent living condo.
PeggySue, I so hope you have plenty of money put aside for your old age so you don't have to depend on the generosity of others. And the Social Security problem is not my generation has used up all the money. The Government borrowed and never gave it back.
