How do I go about getting paid for family caring for family, need information or telephone number or someone I can talk to so I know how I can get started?
Because we are a forum of Caregivers from all over the US, we havevno way to give you a specific number. Each State provides their own resourses.
The only way you can get paid is thru Medicaid. Family member has to fit the criteria income wise. You can call your County Social Service office and speak to a Medicaid caseworker. Your County Office of Aging is a great place to find resourses as is Social Services
The link above is from the resources tab on this site. It’s a good overview on your often asked question. The care recipient should be paying for any care they receive. Read the part about the care contract. If they are a veteran then they might have earned benefits. Medicaid has programs for various situations when a person is unable to pay.
Caregivers must be very aware that they must plan for their own retirement and future care needs and that a large percentage of caregivers pass before their care recipients. AND remember that while there are resources for the aged, there are basically none for the caregivers. Take care of yourself. You are the only one that can do that for you.
