Is a memory care facility required to notify the family of a rate increase in Alabama? If so, how much notice?

My mothers memory care facility called me on a monday to tell me base on their assessment, they were increasing her payment by $980.00/month. When I got here invoice it was just short of $1,300.00. I received the invoice 4 days before the payment is due ($7,100+). I was informed I have to give 30-days notice. What recourse do I have.

I think more information is needed to give you more guidance with your post. First, Check the contract. Your mother and the POA should have the contract that states any increases and notifications.

I am not sure what you mean by recourse. Are you thinking of contesting or asking for an appeal with assessment? Were you not aware of the contract guidlines to begin with? If it seems that the MC facility is not following contractual obligations you should seek legal council.
