My mom has lived in a memory care unit for 3 years private pay on the agreement that if she became eligible for Medicaid after 2 years, they would take her on that. The memory care unit costs $9045 and my mom only brings home $4300 a month. I told them a month or two ago that she would soon be going into Medicaid and they said they had a bed available. Medicaid had me spend down under 15K which took a Month and now when I talk to them, they say they don't have a Medicaid bed available, that someone else just went on Medicaid and they only allow for 2 Medicaid recipients, so I'm not sure what to do on this. Do I have any recourse? If she qualifies for Medicaid Share of Cost and CountryHouse, her memory care home, won't take it, can my daughter who is a licensed Medicaid provider take my mom and get that Share of Cost?

Find Care & Housing
Since States vary in Medicaid criteria, you need to call Social Services and talk to a Medicaid caseworker. In home care is slightly different than LTC in criteria. Its a different application.
