Any suggestions on in home caregiving providers that accept Medicare and Medicaid in Virginia?
Looking for some help in home with my disabled father who requires around the clock care and is mostly immobile. Right now I'm the only caregiver doing absolutely everything and I need help immediately!
Medicare does not pay for longterm care. Medicaid may pay for " in home"care but Dad must apply for the care. His assets have to be pretty low. They will tell you what agencies have contracted with them. Private aides don't contract with Medicare or Medicaid.
I think you are asking the wrong question. Medicare is limited in home care unless medically nessary and written by a doctor for a very limited time. Medicare is a health insurance. The order would cover certain agencies under their program. Medicaid needs an application. People qualify at a certain income and state rules. Medicaid at home might send a CNA for personal care needs but only a few hours a week. There might be other options by calling your local counsel on aging. My county give a yearly stipend to cover about 35 hours per year.
