How does one apply for compensation to take care of a family member?

What documents are usually needed to apply for financial support?

If your loved one is a veteran, check out the Veteran's Administration Program for Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers. If you are approved after submitting an application and a series of interviews, you get a monthly stipend as well as access to respite care, support groups, individual counseling, and more.

To get compensated to care for someone, they need to pay you. Or, they need to fit the criteria for in home Medicaid. Which means there is a monthly income cap and an asset cap. Most people who fit the criteria are low income.

You can contact your County Social Services and talk to someone there. In my State, Medicaid now offers a friend or family member training thru a Medicaid approved agency that ends up employing you and allows you to care for a LO or friend who fits Medicaid criteria. Do not expect to make a lot of money or get in more than 8hrs a day.

Me, I would rather apply for Medicaid and have them supply an aide than me quit a job where I am earning credits towards my Social Security.

Are you talking about Medicaid? Financial support for what? How old are they? Do they have health or cognitive problems? More information and a clear question are needed.
