My sister and her husband have been taking my mom's money. Mom and I have statements to show this. Where do I go for help?

I have begged my siblings to audit mom's accts...they won't, they won't even listen to me.. this situation is so much more complicated. Steven King could make a great movie over this story line....I have been shut out, none of my siblings talk with me. They moved mom into a care home where only my siblings can visit or communicate with her. Not even her grandchildren can communicate with her. She can't call me and I can't call her..I live out of state, I was the closest with her, my sisters hated that..here is the kicker....my sister and her husband that took moms money (well pver $80,000) they told the whole family.....that i took it!!!!!!! In my mom's will, I have been cut out and without telling me or showing any documents. Statements etc...it is written that I owe $135,000???? Is this legal? My mom wanted this changed, siblings wouldn't let her...they put a lien on my house!!! the lien used to be in my mother's name, but now it's changed to her living trust? My mom didnt know anything about the lien, she tried to have it removed. They wouldn't let her.. now they tucked her away in a care facility for memory care!!!! My mom is 90, she does have some memory decline, but she is sharp..my sisters have everyone convinced she has severe dementia? With no diagnosis? My sisters husband said this to mom and i......Anna, we now know the key to you living a long life....is Mary (me).SO.....WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!!!!!so now we cant see each other..last time I spoke to her was December 23rd..I miss her. I have done nothing...I haven't taken anything from her...no one will listen to me.Where do I go for help?what kind of atty do I look for?I've called when I start to tell this cluster....they say that they can't help?

You report it to Adult Protective Services. Every state has one. Call your Human Services number in your county or whatever county this is going on. You will remain anonymous and they will launch an investigation

No memory care facility would have accepted mom unless she was qualified to live there. You can't just check in memory care like you would a bed & breakfast. The facility would have had their professionals do an assessment. Her doctor would have recommended memory care. A hefty entrance fee would have been paid. Also monthly fees from then on.

If she's in memory care, she needs to be there.

Some of the information you have may be incorrect.

If your sister is your Mom's PoA then you will need to take your evidence to an attorney experienced with elder financial abuse and they will determine if you have a case or not, plus they will allay your fears about the $135K "debt".

We certainly are not able to do family dynamics intervention. I agree with RealyReal that you should give what proof you have of wrongdoing to APS and allow them to decide whether a case should be brought to examine records of this couple if a family POA is being abusive.

If you have documented proof of theft you need to contact APS and report financial exploitation of a vulnerable senior.

All of the static of they said, you said, you did, they did, etc needs to be left at the door. You need to prove the theft to APS and they will intervene through the legal system and that is when you can plead your case for contact to the judge.
