Sallee Asked January 2025

My husband has Parkinson’s and dementia. He is a veteran. I take care of him 24/7. Are there any benefits I can get for taking care of him?

Contact the VA, Sallee. Best advice, most accurate advice will be straight out of the horse's mouth. Good luck to you. Wishing you the best and hope you'll get help.

Yes, service related health problems may get him some compensation. He may qualify for Aid and Attendence if he served during wartime.

Contact your local VA representative. Ours is located in the county courthouse. Explain the situation, and be sure to mention your husband’s disabilities. Also mention if he was exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam or any burn pits. If those things have caused his illnesses, he may be able to receive financial compensation. The VA rep will help you file a claim, and there’s no charge for this.
