Not a question but rather a comment. I am so thankful to have found this forum.

My MIL has been diagnosed with moderate stage Alzheimer’s Disease. She could’ve been diagnosed years ago but has been fighting every step of the way to avoid being evaluated. She has absolutely no insight into her illness or her deficits. She believes she is fine and that I have convinced her son that there is something wrong with her by “colluding with my physician friends to do this to her”. We recently moved her into a wonderful ALF and are currently navigating the transfer trauma. Every day is still a challenge and we often question if we made the right decision (though we both know we did). Anyway my point was just that this forum has helped us in so many ways. Seeing our story play out in so many others lives helps us feel less alone and less crazy!!

My grandfather has dementia and PTSD. I tried really hard to keep him home but eventually it got to be too much for all of us. He started to become angrier and aggressive. He started talking about killing himself or shooting people. He started going to neighbors and hospitals making false claims of abuse. DCF got involved. (Personally I think everyone else felt abused by him, I know I did) so the VA decided he had to go to a facility. He has been there a few weeks and is still VERY angry and assumes I put him there. Its a struggle and you are not alone. I question myself daily. I wonder if its me that is crazy. All of our stories are not the same but they are similar. This forum has helped me deal with a lot of the emotions I have been going through and shown me that others out there are dealing with similar situations.
