You need to talk to the Administrator/director of the Community. First question is do they except Medicaid at all. If not, then your going to need to find an AL who does, a group home setting or a NH that does except it.

In my State, Medicaid can only be used, if excepted by the AL I am living in, if I have paid privately for at least two years. And then only if they have not hit their quota for Medicaid residents. Once on Medicaid your SS and any pension you may receive goes toward your care. You will get a Personal needs amount from your SS. My State thats $50 a month.

Isaac,
This is a question for your ALF. If they do not accept Medicaid patients you may be faced with a move. Ask them, if this is the case, what assistance they can give you in finding an extended care facility that accepts Medicaid. I surely do wish you good luck. As you can imagine, we here have no familiarity with the place where you currently are staying. I hope you will update us with what you learn as you go.

Assisted living Medicaid waivers usually pay for services/nursing but you'd have to pay for room and board.

I found this at https://aging.ohio.gov/care-and-living/get-help/home-and-community-care/assisted-living-1
Eligibility
Eligible participants:
Are age 21 or older;
Need hands-on assistance with dressing, bathing, toileting, grooming, eating or mobility;
Meet the financial criteria for Medicaid eligibility (determined by your county Department of Job and Family Services); and
Be able to pay the state established monthly room and board payment (rent), which is the current SSI federal rate minus $50.
To find out if the Assisted Living Waiver Program is an option for you or your loved one, contact your  PASSPORT Administrative Agency.

Please remove your name from your post as the board does not allow identifying information.

As to your question, I would take this to your al. Not all ALs accept Medicaid
