What do you mean can your family help you? I admit $75 a month is not much a month but what do you need that $75 does not cover? Depends, I think Medicaid will pay for them. Your family could pay for your hair to be done. They can purchase clothes for you. They can buy your toiletries. They can slip you some spending money. Like said, they should not put any money into your bank acct.
Certainly your family can help you to buy needed items any time they wish to. What they CANNOT do is gift you large sums of money that will affect your ability to qualify for Medicaid. By the by, you're quite lucky to have found an ALF that accepts Medicaid. Most are private pay. Wishing you the best.
If you are on Medicaid in a facility you get left with ‘pocket money’ after the fees are paid. $75 a week is probably that, and if so it’s normal. Why do you need more? All your food and requirements should be provided.
PeggySue, that's the annual money gifting limit which would cause problems with requalifying for Medicaid. You are right about family purchasing any other necessities for the OP. The family can give cash (not checks), it just can't be deposited into the OP's account.
