When it comes to Social Security Disabilty you can't get it after 65. If you have it before 65, it changes to regular SS after 65. The amount does not change. But when on SSD they check in about every 3 yrs and ask if your still disabled.
You really need to talk to SS. When u find out the answer please come back and tell us. We learn from others.
Do you have a disability? No, you can't qualify using someone else's work record. You may qualify for SSI if you don't have enough work quarters.
If you were married to your ex-husband for ten years or longer at the time of your divorce, you may qualify for his benefits which no doubt will be more than yours. This applies when you are 65 or older but not under 65.
Social Security is very helpful at answering these sorts of questions. You may have to sit on hold for a long time, but once you get someone all your questions will be answered.
