Quetiapine

anyone have experience with quetiapine ? dr just prescribed for spouses agitation but when looked up said side effects can b agitation also shld not b prescribed for anxiety in elderly dementia patients/thank u!

My mother was on it and it was very effective for her. It is often prescribed for mood and mental disorders. Like any medication there can be side effects but that doesn’t mean that your spouse will be negatively affected by it. In my opinion you should try it for several weeks before making any decision about continuing it. Also do not stop the medication without first seeing the doctor who has prescribed it!

Just starting a quietiapine regimine for my mother (96). It was prescribed by two psychiatrists---one of whom specializes in geriatrics. Both doctors are affiliated with large teaching hospitals and directors of divisions, so that I'm guessing they know their stuff. Give it a try is all I can say.
