Does anyone have or know where I can get a donated lift recliner? Medicare only pays for the lift mechanism.

Or will someone please let me know how to retie the small wires on the remote for the on I have now? PLEASE. I’m a caregiver for my ex-husband & his isn’t working. He’s already fallen 2x because of this. Now I’m injured because he fell on my wrist that had just healed from another break!

This post is from June of 2024.

For peoples information, if anything happens to the mechanism of a lift chair, especially Lazyboys, the manufacture will fix because usually a lifetime guarentee. Whatvis not covered by the manufacture would be the fabric because they do not manufacture it.

I have an electric recliner, but it has to be picked up. It is completely free and I will help load it.

Is he a veteran? check to see if you have a local community veterans center that donates used furniture in good condition to vets. They often even deliver and set up for no charge.

Good luck!

Good evening. Do you still have the lift recliner?

Download the app "Nextdoor" and post your request. If on facebook, see if your town has an online yardsale site and post ur request. Craig's list.

Sorry, "Retire the small wires on the remote fo the on I have now??? " I don't understand that sentence. If it has to do with something being wrong with a lift chair you already have, call the manufacturer. Lazyboy especially has lifetime warranties on their chairs.

Wildflower:

You wrote us in October of 23 desperate to get your ex hubby into care.
You have written us several times about your circumstances and about being overwhelmed.
We often go back to look at people's profile to help us answer current questions.

funkygrandma gave you a compassionate conjecture because you spoke of an injury to your wrist. In October you told us you have lupus. I think it is not cruel to suggest to you that you should consider your own health.

I truly do not have any idea about the chair, nor how to handle the problems with the chair.
I have seen people put things on NextDoor such as "Anyone experienced with wiring in a lift chair, or willing to give a try at repair?" I see such questions there all the time.

I wonder if you might not find one used on nextdoor or facebook marketplace, or perhaps craig's list. We often see here donations of beds, but in all truth I have never seen one for a lift chair.

I am very sorry for your struggles and I do wish you the best. But I am afraid I agree with grandma that you are risking your own health, and when you are injured and in care he will most certainly have to enter care as well. Sadly that will be late for you. I truly wish you the very best.

No, I don't know where you can get a free recliner. We here on forum live all over the world, and have no idea where you're located to rewire your husband's remote! Maybe ask a neighbor or check out Habitat for Humanity for a recliner. That's where I donated my parents recliners after they passed. The chair won't be free though. Craigslist has a Free Stuff section, check it out too. And Facebook Marketplace.

It sounds like your ex-husband requires more help than you should be providing. Is he really worth breaking your wrist over?
I mean he is an ex for a reason right?
I think he now needs WAY more than a new lift chair, but instead needs to be placed in the appropriate facility where he will receive the 24/7 care he requires and you can just go visit if you so choose and won't have to worry about hurting yourself.

I didn’t ask for your opinions on my life….as of which you know nothing about…. Was inquiring about a chair!
