Husband with dementia won’t get his toenails cut.

What can I do?

Ask the doctor about using a little mild sedation before tasks he won't cooperate with.

Have you tried having someone else with him also getting nail care? He may do it if others are leading the way. Are they soaking his feet first? Does he have any ingrown, painful nails?

We used to take my elderly Aunt with mod/adv dementia to a salon to get a pedicure. As long as he is mobile and can step up into the chair, this may be an option.

My husband’s grandmother used to have regular appointments with a podiatrist to tend to her toenails.

Is your husband at home or in a facility?
