All inclusive care in Virginia. Any advice?

Hi everyone,

Mom was living in her own home with PACE/INNOVAGE until she moved into Assisted living (and still has INNOVAGE). If she unenrols from INNOVAGE to try a different care provider I am worried they won’t take her back if she wants to enrol again because she may be at risk of not meeting the mandatory requirement of “living independently in the community”.

Has anyone heard of someone in this situation in Virginia who could re-enrol in INNOVAGE after moving to an assisted living facility?

Secondarily, anyone have recommendations for all inclusive care programs that are NOT INNOVAGE in Virginia? Mom has medicaid and Medicare.

Thank you for reading and considering to reply.

I am not familiar with this situation.

Best wishes to you.

Thank you Joanne for your thoughts. I guess the crux of the predicament is whether or not it is possible or if there is a documented case in Virginia of INNOVAGE accepting an Assisted Living resident who has ADL needs (specifically level 2).
I will ask the caseworker but hope to find out if there has been success elsewhere in Virginia.

I just looked it both of these up. From what I read both are mainly to provide Health insurances and other services to help people stay at home. Pace is only received if you are on Medicaid. Both discriptions say Health insurance is provided in the program.

If Mom was getting this program and Medicaid. how can she afford an Assisted Living? Did she sell her home? Is Medicaid aware of the sale because it will effect whether she can receive Medicaid and this program at all. She now has a higher income.

I think this is a question for your mothers caseworker. Mom may not fit the criteria any longer. If so, she can get her own suppliment. Be aware that Medicare Advantages are not all the same and Mom maybe better supplying her own supplemental and prescriptions. Medicare does not pay for dental, precriptions or vision. IMO if Mom had Medicaid she should keep it.
