My mother and I jointly owned her condo which was sold 2 years ago. How will this factor in to Medicaid lookback?

She now lives in AL and has almost run out of money. If she has to get on Medicaid would the 5 yr look back period consider the full amount of a jointly owned condo or only half as hers?

How long has you owned it jointly before it was sold. How did you become joint owner?

You can contact a Medicaid Planner for her state. This is not a government agent but a private sector professional who is expert in the Medicaid program for the state in which they provide service. Many elder law attorneys will know one to recommend.

Hi! That depends on when you became a joint co-owner. Many years ago? Or within the last 5 years?

If the condo was jointly owed, Medicaid can't consider your half of the proceeds of the sale, only her portion.
