Handling bills after passing of uncle?

I’m in New York State and my Uncle passed away at the beginning of March. He did have a will and named me the sole beneficiary and executor. He left zero assets, only personal items from his apartment. I’m not filing the will because I don’t need anything from NYS to get access to anything. A couple of medical bills have already come in and I'm wondering how other people are handling this? I haven’t opened anything. Other sites say everything from “just ignore” to write “deceased - return to sender”. And now one bill actually had my address on it because I did do a forward mail with USPS. Just looking for the best way to handle this in New York State. Also I’m wanting to use the term “insolvent estate.” Thanks for any help that anyone can pass along with there experiences.

You write "Deceased: no estate".
