Why would I need to wait for an executor to sign off on a TOD account before the funds can pass if the estate is not being probated?

Isn’t this the purpose of TOD? Hands off by all? Death cert received. Brokerage firm says waiting for executor sign off for distribution of funds. Executor showed no courtesy informing me I was a beneficiary. It was Everyman for himself. Now executor has power over TOD?

There should be ZERO need of an executor. They need not sign off on anything. POD and TOD belong to the survivor on the account; that's you. Get an elder law attorney now. Something is wrong here if you presented a legal death certificate and got THIS.

You need an attorney or go to the corporate office. This brokerage firm doesn't know what they are talking about, no probate means no executor.

Transfer on death means just that.

Contact an attorney for help. This forum will not be able to help you. These are caregivers and would be happy to make.suggestions on how to tolerate the loved one you care for or how to change their diapers.
