My husband is using his room in the nursing home as a toilet. What can I do about this?

He pees on the flor and in the trash can.

I think this is very common. I know my FIL used to do it. At home, he'd pee anywhere. Once in an open suitcase as MIL was packing for a trip! Funny, not funny.

Is the NH complaining to you about it??? Is he in diapers/pullups yet? Agree he should be on a schedule to cut down on this, hopefully.

That is not your problem. I'll bet that he is not the first one to do so.

Nothing for you to 'do' about this; the nursing home staff should be familiar with dementia residents doing this very thing. They should get him onto a regular toileting schedule to cut down on these incidents. But when such things do happen, the staff should have no problem cleaning the urine up. They also need to get him into disposable adult briefs, but the most important thing is a 2 hour toileting schedule.

Good luck!
