Any advice for stomach pains?

I'm looking after an 87 year old lady who's at end of life dementia. She's complaining of stomach pains. Any advice? And also her urine is very strong, why is this? She seems to have had a surge of energy. Just wanted a few answers please if you can help me.

Patient is not in hospice care.
Has an urgent matter.

Doing nothing can result in elder neglect.
Call 911?

What did the doctors that you called say?

Contacting me by private message is not going to get your friend the help you need. So sorry that I cannot help you.

Does your friend have Medicare, Medicaid, or some kind of health insurance?

To be honest, you cannot help this lady in her final days. With homecare hospice the family still does most of the care. 3x a week an aide will come to bathe the person. A Nurse will come in a few times a week to check on the lady. Depends, wipes and medication is provided by Hospice. Medicare pays for it. Your friend will get medication for her pain. The last thing u want is her to die in pain. Hospice means a more peaceful passing. Since the daughter is the POA, I think this should be brought to her attention.

Mandnbren,
Good for you!
Do you have POA, Medical POA or a HIPPA release form so the doctors can discuss with you her care, or for you to make decisions for your friend?

Does she have family, next of kin that you can contact?

Does she have hospice coming in?

A UTI is urgent, requiring immediate diagnosis and treatment.
Otherwise, her end of life can end by getting sepsis.

You don't want her to be in pain, get help.

If she is at end of life, I hope you have hospice involved if it available to you, as they will be able to answer any question you may have.
And like Midkid58 said below, you definitely want her to be checked for either a bladder infection or UTI, as both can cause pain and strong smelling urine.
Also the dying process itself is very painful as the bodies organs start to shut down, so that's where hospice can be helpful as they can give her pain medications to keep her comfortable.
I don't know where you're writing from, but I hope for your sake and the precious lady you're caring for that hospice is available.

thankyou her urine has a very strong smell also and she seems to have had a surge of energy
Sendhelp Nov 2021
The surge of energy could be that in the elderly, one symptom of UTI is a change in behavior. However, she has the other symptoms of odor in urine.

You did not say if she has managed care by hospice?

Another explanation for a surge in energy could be that she is rallying.
If she is terminally ill, this could be temporary.
Midkid58 Nov 2021
She needs to be seen by a Dr. to check for a bladder infection or UTI.

We're not Drs here, just people who care for elderly/sick people.
