My 93 year old mother is in nursing home. She has late stages of dementia. They give 2 mg of methadone and a muscle relaxer. Advice?

called bacflofen due to her contracted hand. Lately I have been seeing white spots on her tongue. They won't give her anything . They say it may be from too many acidic drinks.
I asked mother if her tongue was sore and she said yes.
Mother has also stopped trying to talk she seems to be slipping away from us. she is also sleeping more now.
She is still eating.

Why is your mother on methadone? People who take a liquid dose of methadone can sometimes get oral sensitivity. That has been know to happen and anyone on methadone is strongly encouraged to make sure they do proper oral care for themselves.
Your mother has white spots on her tongue because she isn't receiving any oral care in the nursing home. They are not taking care of this important hygiene.
Get on the nursing staff about it because these people are slacking off big-time.

Thank you. Hospice put her on methadone due to cna having difficulty dressing her with the contracted hand.
The facility put her on bacfoclen (muscle relaxer). I want to ask hospice to take my mother off methadone but afraid of withdrawal effects.
