Anybody know of good way to control itching? Husband has stage 4 Renal Cancer.

The Cancer center has us using a cream, which is a small tube and lasts less than a week. Any suggestions?

I would ask the pharmacist if they can recommend a specific product.

Dear Maisey,

I tried so many different brands for my dad. I don't know if I was ever successful, but I found the following information that I hope will help.

What is the best cream to stop itching?
Topical steroids are the best choice of anti-itch cream. They are available in a variety of strengths and formulas and can be purchased over the counter as hydrocortisone cream. 5 Overall, ointments and creams are the strongest topical steroids while gels and sprays are the weakest.

What works best to stop itching?
The American Academy of Dermatology suggest that a good way to relieve itchy skin is to apply a cold, wet cloth or ice pack to the affected area for 5–10 minutes. Cooling helps reduce inflammation that may be contributing to the itch. Another option is to keep moisturizing creams and lotions in the refrigerator.
