People’s experience with a husband with Lewy Body dementia?

funkygrandma59 Dec 2020
I have a dear friend from our local caregivers support group, who has been caring for her husband with Lewy Body dementia, in their home for the last 7 or 8 years. They are both in their late seventies. She has had lots of hired help along the way, and now has hospice involved as well. Her husband just recently became completely bedridden. When I spoke to her this morning, she said that hospice believes that her husband is now beginning to transition. She has been so strong for him, yet I know it's been very hard for her to see him continue to decline. I just know that when it's all said and done, she will be grateful that she was able to keep him at home, and care for him, as many aren't able to do that for their loved ones, as the care gets to be just too much.

My brother had probable early Lewy's Dementia. I would recomment google (or other search engine) for an overview from patients and family as well as experts. Facebook also has quite a few Lewy's sites, one is run by a man who has it and lectures across the country (I believe recently stopped due to some progression). I assume new diagnosis here. The learning curve is steep and wish you good luck; look forward to specific questions you may run into.
