Taking mom from the nursing home, however, I need to know the price ranges for a home private nurse. Thanks

I agree with the previous responses. Do you actually need a nurse? If so, depending on how many hours and days you retain him/her, the cost will be significantly more than a NH. I would keep her in the facility. You don't mention what "stage" she is in, but it could get to the point where you can no longer care for her and need to re-place her.

As for learning more about dementia and AD, "The 36 Hour Day" and "Learning to Speak Alzheimer's" are 2 excellent books.

Private pay can be as much as NH care. If she needs 24/7 care that 3 shifts. An agency will be more expensive but they will be the employer making the deductions and coordinating the shifts. Private pay, you are responsible to make deductions and match SS. An aide may not show up for a shift. You may not like one and have to find another. You will have to be on top of everything. Me? I would rather keep my LO in a NH.

Do you actually "need" a Nurse?
You can hire caregivers and it will cost far less than a Nurse.
Hired privately you can instruct someone to give medications, but if you go through an agency they can not "administer" medication they can place a medication in front of someone and watch them take it but they can not, unless they are a Nurse physically hand the medication nor apply medication. (This might be different in different States so check)
Depending on where you live will determine the cost of the Nurse or caregiver. And the number of hours that are needed.
the cost will also be determined by what other tasks are needed.
Bathing?, toileting?, feeding? light housecleaning?,
The easiest way would be to interview several agencies and ask questions. LOTS of questions.

This site doesn’t provide private nurses. The hourly wage depends on your location and whether you hire privately or go through an agency. And in your state will pay a lot more than $17-$19 an hour for a LVN. You should call agencies in your area & ask what their rates are.

RN'S $42- $62 per hour for private duty, maybe less depending on agency and location. RN'S working independently may set their own rate.
LVN'S $17-$19 per hour private duty, depends on agency and location
