Is there a support group in San Juan Capistrano, CA? And/or a day care center?

My husband has dementia. I do not have any outside help or family help. I really need a support group for me. And I would kind to take him some place where he can interact with people. He is soo isolated. His friends have all abandoned him.

You can call the Alzheimer's national hotline (1-800-272-3900) and explain your situation. They can tell you if there is a support group in your area. Some also have respite care for your husband so you can be at the support group and he can be with others doing activities or just socializing. You can also go to the Alz website, alz.org, and search for nearby support groups that way. A support group will allow you to realize you are not alone in this struggle. Others will be there to share their stories and offer helpful suggestions.

It's unfortunate that the disease has such a stigma that people lose their friends, and family, in many cases, because of it. I wish you luck.

Call your area Office of Aging. They can help you with resources.

This is a forum of people from all over the US, Canada, UK and other countries. Very hard to help in certain area unless a member lives in the same area. But its a great group for support and ideas. So come back.
