Looking for legal advice for my uncle. Any suggestions?

He fell on the ice at the water dept. he was put in rehab until he healed. After he healed, was supposed to return home. His power of attorney sold his home and now he is in a nursing home. He wants to get out, possibly an assistance living. I will be up hopefully in Aug., to get things straighten out.

My relative fell at home and wasn't found for days. When found, he was hallucinating, dehydrated and bruised. He has been placed in a memory care facility. He insists he didn't fall, he was just tired and laid down on the floor to nap. He had his relatives all upset that he was "put away" for "no good reason" because his kids "want his money."

My point being you should follow Barb's advice and see if you can get a clearer picture of what happened from the POA. I don't know why his POA wouldn't be happy to put him in assisted living if he qualified to live there. It's half the price of a nursing home!

Train, are you in touch with the POA? Perhaps you can gain a better understanding of what happened if you get that person's side of the story.

The POA holds the financial strings. Uncle can't be placed in a NH if he doesn't meet their criteria. The only legal thing u would be able to do is maybe get guardianship to override the POA.

Really can't do much till u see whatcis going on. Good Luck.
