How do I give up power of attorney?

My question is why do u want to give it up? Is the person who assigned you competent to assign someone else?

There are so many preconceptions regarding POA. The person assigning thinks that the POA is responsible to do everything for them, not true.
The POA thinks they are responsible for everything. Not true.

A POA, financial and medical are tools. They are in place so when the principle can no longer make sound decisions, the POA can make them for them. The financial, the POA can pay the bills, help place the person in an AL or LTC facility. Sell property to help with persons care. The POA does not spend their own money. Nor does it give the assigned person the right to spend the principles money on anyone but the principle.

Medical, you just carry out the person's wishes.

A POA is not responsible to take the person shopping, to appts or run errands. They can arrange for someone else to do that. They are not obligated to take a person into their home or be at their beck and call. Or to financially support them.

Write a formal letter of resignation and give it to the grantor plus any businesses you have been dealing with as their POA, you should probably also give a heads up to the person named as secondary POA.
