Does anyone compensate a family member that is caring for Alzheimer's pt 24x7?

Unfortunately, family caregivers are not paid or reimbursed for expenses or the time they give. However, if the LO or the spouse of the LO is a military veteran, the VA does have a program to pay the spousal caregiver. Give them a call.

anonymous1044207, the vast majority of family members who are caring for a love one do not get paid.... unless the love one can pay the caregiver from their own retirement fund. If that is possible, you would need to draw up an employment agreement and have the love one [if they are able to understand] or their Power of Attorney to sign it.

Otherwise, check with your State Medicaid office [Medicaid is different from Medicare]. Each State runs their own Medicaid programs. If the love one can apply and be accepted by Medicaid [which is taxpayer funded] maybe you could get some type of payment. Note, don't be surprised if the payment is minimum wage for a few hours per week.
