I take care of man (95) 24/7. Daughter is charging me rent and has power of attorney based on false claim that he has dementia. Any advice?

What can I do? Without opening a can of worms. I'm afraid things will back fire on me and she will simply fire me. The government gives her a monthly check, that many are saying should go to me
Any advice?

Really need more info.

Are you a private aide. Do you have an agreement between u and the man or you and the daughter. As a live in, not sure if she is allowed to charge rent. Your hourly rate maybe adjusted because you are being given room and board. You need to contact your department of labor concerning the laws pertaining to ur type of employment. Someone has to be deducting for SS and income taxes. Each state has their own laws when it comes to paid caregivers.

If the daughter has POA it isn’t because of a false claim of dementia. She has POA because her dad assigned it to her. Why does the government give her a monthly check? If you are caring for someone and he doesn’t have dementia, HE should paying you. Perhaps you should find other employment.

Do you work for her directly? Or are you employed through an agency? How do you know he doesn't have dementia or something else? As an employee you need to know your boundaries and rights...I would do some research into this if I were you. Knowing this will also help you know who to report this abuse to, if any one.
