What is the process for becoming a paid family care giver?

The most often asked question here. Those that do get paid are usually paid by parents through a caregiver agreement prepared by an elder law attorney. Folks are setup as employer, in those cases, and taxes, social security, Medicare deducted, etc.....

There are dozens and dozens and dozens of posts here on this very subject. Truth is, there is some chance of a small stipend if your loved one is on Medicaid, but it’s not much. I was quoted $40 a week for my husband. People suggest that if your LO can afford to pay you from their own finances, this is the way to go, with a Caregiver Agreement preferably drawn up by an attorney. If your expecting enough to live on from a government agency, you will be disappointed.
