Patient's life expectancy after palliative hospice is put in place?

Sunnygirl1 Nov 2019
It really is difficult to say, because, everyone is different. My LO has been on Hospice for a little over a year. She continues to decline, but, she still has good vitals and eats well, though, she has continued to lose weight. Does your LO have cancer, heart disease or dementia? I've known some people who have dementia to live for years, though, they appear to be very advanced with their condition. It's quite heartbreaking.

So impossible to guess. The doctor might be able to give some light on this. Ask.

Greatly depends on the condition.
My Husband was on Hospice for 3 years, many are on Hospice 24 hours or less and others weeks. The general "rule of thumb" is 6 months or less. But as long as there is a continued decline, no possibility of cure a person can remain on Hospice.
A little more information as to the condition would be helpful for a more complete answer.
