I can only guess at your question as there is not much information and I can only go by your profile so... If you are asking about your employers protocol VS how you were taught... The only advice I can give you is this is your employer and you have to do things the way they want. If they are asking you to do something that is unsafe or not legal then they should be reported an you should find other employment.
