Why is my grandmother so mean!?

Hi, my mom doesn't have a job were she has to get ready and go to like, the store and work. She works for my grandmother. Here are some stories of my rude grandmother being mean.

One day, my mom had told me to sweep and mop the kitchen floor. My mom had to go somewhere and left me with my grandma. So I was getting ready to mop because I had already swept, so I filled up the mop bucket with hot, soapy bleach water, and then my grandma went into the kitchen and saw me put the mop in the clean water then she said, "(My name) did you rinse out the mop before you put it in the dirty water?", and I said no. Then she grabbed the mop from me and lifted it up and said, "DO YOU NOT SEE ALL THAT DIRT!?", And I said, " Well, no because the clean water washed the dirt off it!". And so she hit me on the side with the mop, I had gotten bleach all on my clothes and in my eye!

One day I was told to do the dishes and the rule is that when You do the dishes you have to wipe down the stove. And so I did, but then my grandma drove her electric wheelchair into the kitchen, and asked me if I wiped down the stove. And I said yes. Then she went towards the stove and then she saw some little pieces of food on stove!! so I said but I wiped down and I could not get the food off. And then she picked up stove grate, (she has a gas stove) so she picked up the stove grate and then chunked stove grate at me. I moved out of the way really fast so it would not hit me.

This last story triggered me really bad!!!

My grandma had thought that the TV had been turned off, but I just don't understand why she got so mad!!!!! Anyway she thought the Tv was turned off, when it really wasn't. It had just fallen asleep, but with her blind self she thought I was lying! So we had a big argument over whether the TV was off or fell asleep, then later in the argument she started screaming at me saying, "WHY ARE YOU SUCH A LIAR, THE TV IS OFF I'M NOT BLIND!!!!", but clearly she is blind! So as she was yelling at me I started screaming back at her but louder, I said, "THE TV IS ASLEEP IT DOES THIS ALL THE TIME, AND IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME I CAN PRESS ONE BUTTON ON THE REMOTE AND IT WILL WAKE UP!!!! YOU ALWAYS THINK YOUR RIGHT WHEN YOU DIDN'T HAVE ANY ELECTRONICS WHEN YOU WHERE A KID! YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO TURN ON A SMART PHONE!!", and then SHE HIT ME IN THE NECK. And yes I may have went overboard a little bit. But I got mad

Kookie, what health issues does your Grandmother have? If we knew this it would help us better under your situation. How old is your Grandmother? Are you and your Mom living with Grandmother, or is she living with you?

Getting older isn't easy for many people. So there are times you need to try to ignore some of the outbursts, as Grandmother still thinks she is in charge of the household especially if you are living with her.

You may ask your Mom to take Grandmother to her doctor to see if Grandmother has what is called an Urinary Tract Infection. This type of infection in an older person can cause all types of outbursts, etc. This can be helped with medicine.

As for Grandmother not knowing how to turn on a SmartPhone, well I don't know how to turn on such a phone, either. We weren't raised on such technology. Give me landline telephone any day, it rings, you pick up the receiver :) No turning the phone on, no charging the phone, no dropped calls, easy to hear the other person [landline to landline], and no looking for the phone as it is in the same place all the time.

I am glad you wrote, we are here to help you.

What does your Mom say about all this, because it is unfortunately her job to figure out what to do about this.

My mother says that its my fault, because I yelled at her. But she did confront my grandmother.
